"The Taliban... had been brought up on something other than Joan Baez." Just one of several interesting points made by David Aaronovitch in the Guardian. And, for those who haven't read it in its entirety, here's Bush's National Endowment for Democracy speech from last week, which lays out his vision in broad, plain terms. Agree or disagree with Bush, it's worth your while to read the whole thing.

At a meeting of the Organization of Christian Nations, the prime minister of one Christian nation declared "there are more than a billion Christians in the world and we have most of the world's most powerful militaries and economies under our control, so why must we put up with such violence from a billion poor, weak Muslims?" I totally forgot I was doing this. I'll try to remember from now on. For starters, I think I found my favorite review ever of my book. Also, I keep promising my friend Lisa that I'll link to her blog, and then I keep forgetting. Look: I remembered.

Michael Moore is practically a demigod here in Europe. He's always kind of annoyed me, so it's nice to see I'm not alone.

I thought Tony Blair's speech to the Joint Session of Congress yesterday was extraordinary.

I'm always glad to see someone stick up for the English language as spoken (and written) by actual human beings. Even if they're Canadian.

Friends have been wondering how our cats have been adapting to Denmark— apparently they've been producing music videos behind our backs.
